That's all there is folks. After agreeing to a 30 million dollar settlement with the RIAA, FreePeers (the company who distributed BearShare) has sold out and called it quits. As part of the BearShare settlement, Free Peers agreed to sell their technology, rights to the BearShare domain name and data on users of the software to a subsidiary of iMesh Inc., which used to distribute file-swapping software until 2004.The acquisition included BearShare's software, domain and user base so, one can assume that MusicLab (formed by iMesh to handle the Free Peers acquisition) will continue to operate under the BearShare name. iMesh has moved to an authorized files only model following similar pressure from the RIAA.

1. So another one bites the dust. If you're into p2p, I wouldn't worry about it. There will likely be at least 5 new sites springing up in Bearshare's place.
